Our Family Treasures Story
The five of us got together, sisters and sister-in-laws to create a collection of our most loved recipes. Through each ones life experiences and inspirations we were able to compile this book. Each one of us had their own contributions to Our Family Treasures.
We were all raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Being raised in such a wonderful country we had the opportunity to enjoy our Lebanese heritage and at the same time appreciate our western influences.
Since we were children, the passion to create was in all of us. Our curiosity in the kitchen was what started it all, also the enjoyment of being in the kitchen helped too. The pleasure it gave us when someone was pleased with what they had just eaten was heart felt, especially when they would ask how did you make that? What did you put in it? This inspired us to keep trying new things. To keep creating and experimenting, to find out what was right for us and our families. By sharing each other’s experiences, we wanted to create a book in which we could hand down to our children, with hopes that our own children will have experiences and inspirations of their own.
None of this could be possible if it was not for our wonderful families. We must start with our great teachers, our parents, without their guidance none of this would be possible.
Their enthusiasm and support is greatly appreciated. Much thanks to our husbands, for their great support and encouragement. We must not forget our children, to whom this book, we hope, will be of great benefit.
These collections of recipes are filled with wonderful memories and experiences. They are a mix of traditional Lebanese, Ethnic, and Modern Day foods. With every recipe there is a story, a gathering of good family times, and memories shared with our loved ones.
We hope this cookbook can bring you and your loved ones wonderful moments and everlasting memories.
