For the first time in history a classically trained traditional scholar from the East offers English-speaking students in the West a clear and detailed tafsir (exegesis) of an entire chapter of the Qur’an in the English language. Internationally renowned scholar and lecturer, Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, delivers over 6 incredible hours of tafsir on Surah al-Teen (Chapter of the Fig) in this amazing 6 CD set. Shaykh Muhammad begins the tafsir by explaining how Allah (subhanahu wa ta`ala) created man in the best of molds and how this flawless physical design carries through the different stages of human life; from the womb to infancy, infancy to youth, youth to adulthood, adulthood to old age, and finally until death. He further explains how Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) made the fig tree an example that symbolizes the various phases of spiritual development of the human being: faith, guidance, misguidance and disbelief. Describing the physical qualities of the fig itself, Shaykh Muhammad narrates a beautiful hadith in which someone presented the Prophet a plate of figs and he said, “Eat figs! If I would say a certain type of fruit was sent down to us from the heavens I would say it’s a fig because it has no seeds.” He then explains how the seeds of the fig are the edible part of the fruit and how the fig tree is one of a few trees in existence that do not have blossoms. Acknowledging the similitude of the human creation and the fig, Shaykh Muhammad eloquently points out that the blossoms of the fig tree are within it, just as the blossom of the believer is within him, in his heart. Many more spiritual insights abound in this one of a kind series!
